In November 2006, Stuart picked up a guitar for the first time. A crappy 5 steel string, one nylon string guitar that’d been sitting in his Dad’s closet for 15 years. The week after that, he wrote his first song and at that point, Mick decided they had to start a band.
The Discards are a two piece folk pop band from The New England, NSW.
They have been writing and performing together for the past two years and will be releasing their debut EP, titled The Amphibious Whale at the end of the year.
Working with producer / musician Joe Hardy (who also happens to be Mick’s brother), they recorded The Amphibious Whale at EMU Studios in Sydney between December 2008 and March 2009.
